Julio Valdez

As a principal on the firm’s global services team, I bring extensive experience in advising companies on cross-border and multinational operations. My work is primarily focused on Mexico-U.S. transactions while also leading and contributing to international initiatives, including operational assessments, global expansions, and entity life cycle projects across multiple regions around the world. I specialize in manufacturing and distribution companies, maquiladoras and IMMEX, and automotive industry companies. The majority of my clients are foreign-owned companies navigating the complexities of international activities. I’m dedicated to helping these companies expand globally, and I have a strong track record of supporting foreign companies in setting up business operations across borders.

Clients appreciate my ability to provide practical insights while adhering to rules and regulations, as well as my responsiveness and commitment to finding timely solutions that address their needs. With nearly two decades of experience, one of my greatest accomplishments has been becoming a trusted advisor to many clients. This often makes me their first call when international matters arise, particularly regarding Mexico. Because I’m based in Monterrey, I’m able to directly engage with Mexico’s tax laws, allowing me to effectively communicate and translate these findings to our international management team. 

Around the office, I’m known for making myself available as a resource to assist with concerns and for my ability to balance personal and professional development. I’m committed to mentoring and coaching staff members, helping them grow by sharing the lessons and experiences that have shaped my own career.

I’m frequently invited to speak at conferences and events, such as the Praxity North American International Tax Conference, and I frequently participate in webinars and international events hosted by the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, PMA, and other organizations. These opportunities allow me to share insights on global expansion and international tax matters. I earned my B.S. in accounting and finance from Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) in Mexico.

Outside the office, I’m a huge fan of music, sports, and traveling. You’ll often find me planning trips around the world, attending festivals like Coachella, enjoying sporting events like the World Cup, or simply hanging out at the beach with my dog, Luna.
